(AGE)proposes to continue to extract,
hydrocarbons utilizing an active vacuum blower and two carbon canisters (400 pounds each). This
modification of the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system will continue to allow for the recovery and
destruction of hydrocarbon vapors from the vadose zone. The anticipated duration of the remediation at
the site will last approximately six months.Monitoring and sampling of the SVE influent and effluent will
be performed monthly;analytical results ofvapor samples willbe included in quarterly monitoring reports,
The SVP system was operated between 12 and 18 March 2002 for collection of vapor samples to
determine emission levels. Based on the analytical results ofvapot samples collected during March 2002,
operation of the SVE system would produce approximately 4 pounds per day ofvolatilized hydrocarbons.
In accordance with San Joaquin County Aa Pollution Control District regulations,AGE proposes utilizing,
activated carbon to reduce hydrocarbon emissions to non-detect levels.
Enclosed is an Authority to Construct permit application, analytical results of soil gas samples from the
influent stream, calculations used to determine the hydrocarbon emission rate,a location m;ip and a site
reap illustrating the proposed SVP system.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact the undersigned at(209)467-1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc_
Paul B.
