Van Buren SITE CODE: 2511
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has reviewed the
March 1993 Quarterly Monitoring Report prepared by RESNA for the above referenced site.
In this quarterly report, the monitoring wells were reported as being sampled on February 11, 1993 and upon
sample analysis the following levels of contaminants were confirmed: Monitoring Well 3 had .85 feet of free
product on the water, Monitoring Well 5 was sampled and upon analysis was non detectable for all analyzed
contaminants; Monitoring Well 1 was sampled and upon analysis the following levels of contaminants were
confirmed-TPHg 3100 ppb, Benzene 41 ppb, Toluene 110 ppb, Ethyl Benzene 49 ppb, Xylenes 230 ppb;
Monitoring Well 2 was sampled and upon analysis the following levels of contaminants were confirmed-TPHg
210 ppb, Benzene ND, Toluene 1.3 ppb, Ethyl Benzene 1.1 ppb, Xylenes 19 ppb; Monitoring Well 4 was
sampled and upon analysis the following levels of contaminants were confirmed-TPHg 690 ppb, Benzene 5.7
ppb, Toluene 1.9 ppb, Ethyl Benzene 2.8 ppb, Xylenes 14 ppb; Monitoring Well 6 was sampled and upon
analysis the following levels of contaminants were confirmed-THPg 6500 ppb, Benzene 260 ppb,Toluene 56
ppb,Ethyl Benzene 59 ppb,Xylenes 290 ppb;Monitoring Well 7 was sampled and upon analysis the following
levels of contaminants were confirmed-TPHg 19000 ppb, Benzene 850 ppb, Toluene 600 ppb, Ethyl Benzene
400 ppb and Xylenes 970 ppb. These groundwater sample results indicate that the plume of groundwater
contamination has not been defined.
In addition, PHS/EHD has no record of the monitoring wells being sampled since the February 1993 event.
Pursuant to Section 2652(d) of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations (California Code of Regulations,
Title 23, Chapter 16) a quarterly monitoring report shall be submitted to PHS/EHD and the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB) until the investigation and cleanup of the site is deemed
adequate. The report is to show:
-status of investigation and cleanup activities including the results of all investigations completed to
date;
- proposed continuing or next phase of investigation;
- method of cleanup proposed or implemented,schedules for the completion of the investigation of
the site and remediation;
- method and location of disposal of the released hazardous substances and any contaminated soil,
groundwater, or surface water,
- manifest required for transport of hazardous substances;
- monitoring well data including groundwater elevation, ph, conductivity, gradient;
- analytical results of groundwater or soil sampling;
-site map showing the"zero line"of contamination,if known,and changes in the above measurements
over the last quarter.
. t
A Dt i of Sao loawm Ca "Ham rye Se 40
