Robert Chase
Auto Investment Co Assoc.
Page 2
Sampling of the existing monitoring wells is to be scheduled immediately. A 48 hour notification of the
sampling event is to be provided to PHS/EHD. A quarterly report including the results of the sampling should
be submitted to PHS/EHD by January 15, 1994. In addition to the quarterly report, a work plan to further
investigate the extent of the soil and groundwater contamination should be submitted to PHS/EHD by January
15, 1994.
Enclosed is a copy of a January 4, 1993 letter that was sent to the CVRWQCB regarding recalcitrant
underground storage tank clean up sites. When responsible parties do not comply with our directives for
further site investigation or remediation we request the CVRWQCB consider formal enforcement action.
Please note that in the letter to CVRWQCB Chase Chevrolet at 424 Van Buren and 423 N.Madison are listed
as in process of referral as a Groundwater- Freeproduct site.
If the workplan for further site work and the quarterly report are not submitted to PHS/EHD by the dates
indicated previously, PHS/EHD may complete the referral process at which time the CVRWQCB may initiate
enforcement procedures. In addition, if you do not comply with PHS/EHD directives you may jeopardize your
eligibility for reimbursement from the State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund Program.
If you have any questions, contact Steven Sasson, Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3459.
Jogi Khana, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
Donna Heran, Supervising REHS
Environmental Health Division
DH/SS:lb
cc: Richard Konig, Konig Richard W.
