v <br /> SOIL AND GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION REPORT <br /> 424 NORTH VAN BUREN STREET (AREA 16) <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report documents the soil and groundwater remediation work performed at the Chase West <br /> Site(Area 16) at 424 North Van Buren Street in Stockton, California(Figure 1). The City of <br /> Stockton(City)owns the Site, and Treadwell&Rollo was retained by the City to conduct the <br /> remediation work. <br /> The objective of this remediation was to remove soil and groundwater with high concentrations <br /> of petroleum hydrocarbons at the former underground storage tank(UST) location. During April <br /> and May 2004 the soil remediation was conducted in conformance with the 7 April 2004 <br /> workplan titled Soil and Groundwater Investigation Results and Remediation Workplan, Chase <br /> West, Area 16, 424 North Van Buren Street, Stockton, California(Treadwell&Rollo 2004a) <br /> (2004 Workplan),which was approved in a 14 April 2004 letter prepared by the San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD 2004b). The approval letter is included in <br /> Appendix A. <br /> This report presents the following: <br /> 1. Findings regarding previous site uses and investigations; <br /> 2. Soil and groundwater remediation methodologies; <br /> 3. Sampling and laboratory analytical methods used our subsurface investigations; and <br /> 4. Sampling results. <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> The Site is part of the Banner Island Redevelopment Project,which includes the area north of the <br /> Stockton Channel bounded by North Lincoln Street to the west, West Fremont Street to the north <br /> and Commerce Street to the east(Figure 1).
