• 28 March 1997 AGE-NC Project No 95-0143 Page 3 of 3 MW-17, thereby defining the maximum horizontal extent of impacted ground water The plume of impacted ground water does not appear to be actively migrating • Free product was not encountered at the site during the February monitoring, however, ground water is probably above the screened interval in MW-3, which would prevent the detection of free product Removal of free product,when present, should continue at the site • Total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations decreased in MW-3, MW-6 and MW-7 during the last quarter Hydrocarbon concentrations increased in MW-9, but remained within recent historical Ievels In general, hydrocarbon concentrations have followed a fluctuating, poorly defined trend since quarterly monitoring began 4 2 RECOMMENDATIONS Based upon data collected during the February 1997 sampling event, AGE has the following recommendations • • A Corrective Action Plan(CAP) was submitted to the PHS-EHD in January 1997 An in-situ air sparging/soil vapor extraction system was recommended for site remediation Upon concurrence of the PHS-EHD, a Remedial Action Work Plan should be prepared and site remediation initiated • The next quarterly monitoring at the site will be scheduled for May 1997, concurrent with monitoring at the Madison site I 5.0. LIMITATIONS Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic conditions at the site have been made from a limited number of available data points (i a ground water monitoring well samples), and subsurface conditions may vary through time and with distance from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report i
