I <br /> 29 January 1996 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0143 <br /> IPage 4 of 6 <br /> 3 5 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> For both sampling events, water samples were collected from each purged well wing new disposable <br /> bailers and transferred into 40-mI EPA vials contairung hydrochloric acid as a preservative The <br /> samples were transported in a chilled container to MAI and analyzed for TPH-g and BTE&X in <br /> accordance with EPA methods 5030 and 602, respectively <br /> E <br /> E36 SURVEYING <br /> On 29 November 1995, the casing elevations of all monitoring wells at the site were surveyed to the <br /> nearest 0 01 foot using a Nikon builders level (Table 1) All elevations were surveyed relative to <br /> Emonitoring well MW-1 located at the former Chase Chevrolet service center 1 block east of the site <br /> to allow correlation between the two sites Well I1iNNI-1 was previously surveyed and assigned an <br /> Earbitrary elevation of 12 85 feet, as estimated from a USGS Topographic sheet <br /> 4.0. FINDINGS <br /> 41 STRATIGRAPHY <br /> EFill material was present over most of the site to depths of 3 to 5 feet bsg Silt and clayey silt were <br /> encountered to depths of 19 feet bsg in wells MW-10 and MW-17 and to depths of 25 feet bsg in <br /> Ewells MW-14, MW-15 and MW-16 Silty sand was encountered from depths of 19 to 37 feet bsg in <br /> MW-10, from depths of 25 to 36 feet bsg in MW-14, and from depths of 25 to 34 feet bsg in wells <br /> MW-15 and MW-16 Silty clay, clay and clayey silt were present in MW-17 from depths of 19 to 36 <br /> Efeet bsg and m wells MW-15 and MW-16 from depths of 34 to 36 feet bsg Boring logs are included <br /> as Appendix A <br /> E <br /> 42 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> ENo organic vapors or hydrocarbon odors were detected in soil samples or auger returns monitored <br /> dunng this investigation One soil sample from a depth of 25 feet bsg in each boring was analyzed for <br /> E TPH-g and BTE&X No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the samples analyzed <br /> Analytical results are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory reports (MAI Laboratory I D Nos <br /> 56918 and 58881 - 58884) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix C <br /> E <br /> E <br /> E <br />
