INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a request from Mr Jeffery Setness of Hartmann & Setness, Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this Quarterly Report summarizing field activities <br /> performed during the second quarter of 1995 at 424 North Van Buren Street in Stockton, California <br /> (Figure 1) <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND - <br /> 21 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site occupies the city block bounded by Fremont Street, North Van Buren Street, Lindsay Street <br /> . and Monroe Street The site was the location of the Chase Chevrolet dealership until 1994 One large <br /> building, one- small building and a small parking cover are located at the site (Figure 2) An <br /> automotive painting facility currently occupies the large structure on the southern third of the <br /> property <br /> One 1,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank(UST, Tank No 7) was removed from north of <br /> the small building in 1986 Petroleum hydrocarbons were encountered below the UST The San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services -Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) required a soil <br /> and ground water investigation to assess the extent of contamination at the site <br /> 2 2 FURTHER INVESTIGATION <br /> Four ground water monitoring wells(MW-3, MW-6, MW-7 and MW-9) and three soil borings (SB3, <br /> SB4 and SB5) were installed by Resna in September 1990 and June 1994 to investigate the extent <br /> of impacted soil and ground water in the vicinity of the former UST Ground water at the site <br /> historically ranges from 25 to 30 feet below grade with a northerly flow direction Petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were detected in all four monitoring wells during each sampling event Free product <br /> was present in motvtonng well MW-3 A skimmer was installed to remove floating product from <br /> MW-3 Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in all three soil bonngs installed at the site <br /> The lateral extent of impacted soil remains undefined in all directions The lateral extent of impacted <br /> ground water remains undefined to the north, east and south A contaminant plume is also located <br /> on the Crystal Cream and Butter Company site on the west side of Van Buren Street at 404 W <br />
