10 December 2001
' AGE NC Project No 95-0143 1
Page 5of10
' • Sample EW-3/12 45 was collected after 15 minutes of pumping at 10 gpm(total pumping
duration of 285 minutes),
' • Sample EW-3114 45 was collected after 135 minutes of pumping at 10 gpm(total pumping
duration of 405 minutes), and
• Sample EW-3/16 00 was collected after 210 minutes of pumping at 10 gpm(total pumping
' duration of 470 minutes)
' The nine samples were collected directly from the discharge hose utilizing three 40-m1 EPA-
approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative
Following sample collection, each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed
in a chilled container and transported to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following analyses
' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline TPH- b EPA Method 8015M and
q g ( g) y ,
. • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX) and methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)
by EPA Method 8020
3 l 3 Extracted Water Analytical Results
The nine samples contained TPH-g at concentrations ranging from, 160,000 micrograms per liter
(gg/1)to 170,000 gg/l BTEX compounds were detected in the nine samples at concentrations as high
as 6,800 gg/1(benzene), 3 8,000 gg/l(toluene), 3,800 gg/1(ethylbenzene) and 3 3,000 gg/1(xylenes)
Laboratory results are summarized on Table 3 The laboratory reports (McCampbell Analytical Inc
Lab IDs 68653 through 68661) and cham-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix C
3 1 4 Extracted Ground Water Disposal
Approximately 4,000 gallons of extracted water were generated during the pumping test On 13.lune
2001,the ground water extracted during the pumping test was pumped from the aboveground storage
Baker tank into a vacuum truck (supplied by American Valley Waste Oil), the extracted water was
transported off-site under hazardous waste manifest to Industrial Service Oil Co Inc , a waste
treatment facility located in Los Angeles, California Documentation and uniform hazardous waste
manifest for disposal of the pump test purge water is contained in Appendix D
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc
