1
' 27 October 2000
' AGE-NC Project No 95-0143
' effectiveness of the horizontal vapor extraction system. Additionally, the exposed screened
intervals of the vertical extraction wells were within a sandy to clayey silt layer, the
characteristics of which, combined with the high ground water elevation, may lunit the
' effectiveness of the vertical vapor extraction wells A plot of soil vapor concentrations versus
average depth to ground water during operation of the SVE system is included as Appendix
' F
* During this quarter the SVE operation removed approximately 17 gallons of gasoline, but
only operated a total of 699 hours
' 0 The SVE and IAS units have returned to normal operation Utility and system maintenance
issues have been resolved
' 0 The remediation system should be modified to compensate for the high ground water
elevation to enhance the effectiveness of the system
I
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
I • Based upon data collected during the August 2000 and previous sampling events and SVE system
monitoring results, AGE recommends
' a Continued quarterly monitoring of the ground water monitoring well system on the site The
next quarterly monitoring will be scheduled for November 2000, concurrent with monitoring
at the Madison site
• Continued operation and monitoring of the SVE and IAS systems at the site
IAGE has a work plan in preparation to enhance the performance of the SVE/IAS system currently
in operation to compensate for the rise of ground water elevation
I6.0. LDUTATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
I environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the soil and ground
water conditions at the site have been made from a limited number of available data points (i e
I ground water samples and measurements and SVE system monitoring points), and subsurface
conditions may vary through time and with distance from these data points No other warranty,
expressed or imphed, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
Advanced CeoEnvuo=vntai,Inc
I
