1 <br /> 05 October 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0143 <br />' Page 2 of 4 <br />' 22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from each purged well using new, disposable bailers and, upon <br />' retrieval,were transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric <br /> acid as a sample preservative The samples were labeled and transported under chain-of-custody, in <br /> a chilled container, to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a State of California Department of <br />' Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, and were analyzed for <br />' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Methods 5030/8015m, <br /> • Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) <br />' with methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020/602, and <br /> • Fuel oxygenates, di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE, <br /> I tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8260 <br /> 23 INSTALLATION OF SVE/IAS UNITS <br /> In April 1999, 11 horizontal vapor recovery wells, 5 vertical vapor extraction wells and 23 sparging <br /> wells were installed at the site A Firecat 250 thermal oxidizer soil vapor extraction (SVE) unit and <br />' the in-situ air sparging (IAS) unit were subsequently installed north of the car wash canopy The <br /> sparging unit consists of a 10 HP compressor with a 120-gallon tank, a flow regulator and an in-line <br /> oil trap filter A power drop with a separate electric meter was installed by PG&E for the SVE and <br /> IIAS units Electnc winng from the power drop to the SVE and IAS units and a natural gas line from <br /> the existing gas distribution lines to the SVE unit were installed by Gipson Engineering A covered <br /> fenced enclosure was installed around the SVE and IAS units <br /> Two-inch diameter PVC piping was installed underground individually from each horizontal and <br /> I vertical vapor extraction well A flow control valve and sampling port were installed in the piping <br /> to each well The sampling port will also be used to insert a flow meter for each extraction well The <br /> pipes were connected to a manifold and then to the SVE unit <br /> One-inch diameter piping was installed underground from each sparging well to a manifold <br /> and then <br /> to the IAS unit A flow meter with a flow control valve was installed in the piping to each sparging <br /> Iwell <br /> • Natural gas has been off at the site for an unspecified time Upon attempted I P p pied resumption of service, <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
