August 11,2000 -7 - 003-7170 <br /> Figure 2. The new well will provide additional elevation and background water quality data. Water <br /> quality data collected from the new well in conjunction with the existing monitoring wells will be used <br /> to assess impacts of the process wastewater on the shallow ground water regime as described in <br /> Section 4.2. The following is a description of the methods and procedures associated with the <br /> installation of the proposed new well. <br /> 3.1 Ground Water Investigation <br /> One additional ground water monitoring well will be installed to supplement the existing monitoring <br /> well network at the site for the purposes of establishing baseline ground water quality conditions, <br /> monitoring ground water flow patterns and monitoring future ground water quality. The depth of the <br /> monitoring well is estimated to be 80-feet bgs. <br /> The monitoring well will be installed by drilling a boring with nominal, 8-inch hollow stem augers. <br /> The monitoring well will be constructed using 2-inch diameter, flush-threaded, schedule 40 polyvinyl <br /> chloride (PVC) casing and screen. The monitoring well will be completed with a 12-inch diameter <br /> flush-mount,traffic-rated well box. <br /> Following installation, and following a 48-hour period,the well will be developed and surveyed. After <br /> development and an approximately 24-hour time period, ground water samples will be collected from <br /> each monitoring well. <br /> Monitoring well permitting, construction, development, sampling, surveying, health and safety <br /> planning and disposal procedures are described in Appendix A. <br /> 3.2 Equipment Decontamination <br /> All field equipment used in sampling will be decontaminated using a combination of Alconox and <br /> deionized water. Water used to decontaminate the field equipment will be contained in labeled, 55- <br /> gallon drums and left on-site. Soil cuttings generated during drilling will be placed in 55-gallon drums <br /> or a roll-off bin and contained on-site for appropriate disposal. <br /> 3.3 Well Completion Report <br /> At the completion of monitoring well installation, development and sampling, and upon receipt of the <br /> chemical analysis results, a report will be prepared summarizing the findings of the field investigation. <br /> The report will include boring logs and tables summarizing the chemical analysis results. The report <br /> will also include a description of the field investigation procedures and an interpretation of the site <br /> conditions. <br /> 4.0 MONITORING PLAN <br /> 4.1 Sampling and Analysis <br /> Ground water monitoring will be carried out to assess changes is ground water quality and ground <br /> water flow direction. Monitoring will consist of water level measurements for the assessment of <br /> ground water flow patterns and sampling for chemical analyses. Ground water will be collected and <br /> analyzed for the parameters identified in the WDRs. Monitoring wells will be sampled quarterly <br /> through the duration of the interim remedial actions or one year. <br /> R00-37.doc Golder Associates <br />
