The soil sample described above was collected and stored in a precleaned, 6-
ounce glass sample jar supplied by the laboratory. The sample was then
discretely labeled and placed into an ice chest cooled with wet ice. The sample
was transported to American Environmental Network (AEN) laboratory, a CAL
EPA certified laboratory (DOHS # 1172), under chain of custody.
8.0 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES
The soil samples collected at the site from beneath the former Chevron pipeline
were analyzed for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (TRPH) by
Standard Method 5520 E&F. The soil sample collected from beneath the former
UST was analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline by
Modified EPA Method 5030/8015, for TPH as diesel by Modified EPA Method
3550/8015-,<Ior -benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by
EPA Method 8020, and total lead by EPA Method 7420. Analytical results are
tabulated below in Tables One and Two. The certified laboratory reports are
attached in Appendix A.
TABLE ONE
Summary of Chemical Analyses of
SOIL SAMPLES FROM PIPELINE
All results in parts per million (ppm)
Total Hydrocarbon
Sample Oil and Oil and
I-D_- Grease Grease
PIPE LOCATION A 170 120 Q 4'
PIPE LOCATION B <10 <10
PIPE LOCATION C 110 90 12,
3,
J PIPE LOCATION D <10 <10
PIPE LOCATION E 1,600 890
PIPE LOCATION F <10 <10
PIPE LOCATION G <10 <10
PIPE LOCATION H 30 20
1
EPA 5520 E 5520 F
METHOD
a
Schulte and Chrisman Road, Tracy CA - May 1995 (ASE #2857)
-4
