Repeated
groundwater samples have indicated that no petroleum constituents were detected at approved methods
and detection limits. The polynuclear aromatic/polyaromatic hydrocarbons(PNA/PAH) detected in the
soil from "SB-2", "SB-3", and monitoring well "TW-1", were below EPA Region IX Preliminary Remediation
Goals (PRG's).
With the removal of the pipeline in the 1950's and with no detectable petroleum hydrocarbons or
PNA's/PAH's detected in the groundwater, it is the opinion of PHS-EHD that further investigation at the
north end of the parcel is not warranted.
The monitoring well currently onsite will need to be destroyed. Please submit a completed well
destruction permit application, $60, and a short workplan describing the destruction details to PHS-EHD
within thirty (30) days. You will be notified of the permit issuance so a field inspection can be scheduled.
Thank you for your cooperation during this investigation and PHS-EHD appreciates your willingness to
voluntarily follow investigative recommendations and your timely responses.
You may contact Michael Infuma at(209) 468-3454 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
--P 9j ;
Michael J.
