The additional soil and groundwater sampling will be conducted to confirm that the
subsurface "pipe wrap" material has not adversely impacted soil beneath the site and is not
providing a source of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents to groundwater.
CPL proposes advancing one boring in the location of boring SB-1 (Figure 1). A soil sample
will be obtained at the depth which exhibits the greatest evidence of petroleum impacted soil, as
determined through field observations. If there is no evidence of petroleum impacted soil the
sample will be obtained at a depth of 5 feet below ground surface. A groundwater sample will be
collected from temporary well casing.
The soil sample will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX)
using Method 8020, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using method 8310 and total extractable
petroleum hydrocarbons (TEPH) using Method 3550/3620/8015M quantified against crude oil.
The groundwater sample will be analyzed for BTEX using Method 8020, PAI-Is using method
8310, total purgable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPPH) using Method 5030/8015M quantified
against gasoline and TEPH using Method 3550/3620/8015M quantified against diesel.
