1 . 0 INTRODUCTION
This report outlines the methods and findings of Aqua Science Engineers,
Inc. (ASE)'s soil and groundwater assessment at the Hanson property
located at 7750 Schulte Road in Tracy, California (Figure 1). The site
assessment activities were initiated by Ms. Maxine Hanson of the Hanson
Family Partnership, owner of the property, and Charter Properties, a
potential buyer of the property, to meet the requirements of the San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(SJCPHS-EHD) for case closure of a underground storage tank formerly
located at the site.
2 . 0 SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)
ASE's scope of work for this project was to:
1 ) Prepare a workplan for approval by the SJCPHS-EHD.
2) Obtain a drilling permit from the SJCPHS-EHD.
3) Drill one soil boring at the site directly through the location of the
former UST using a Geoprobe drill rig. Prepare soil samples for
analysis every 5-feet as drilling progresses starting at a depth of 8 -
feet below ground surface (bgs).
4) Analyze the soil samples collected from 8-feet bgs, 13-feet bgs a n d
18-feet bgs for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) by
EPA Method 5030/8015M, total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPH-D) by EPA Method 3510/8015M, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and total xylenes (collectively known as BTEX) by EPA Method 8020
and fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260. In addition, one soil
sample chosen by Mr. Michael Infurna of the SJCPHS-EHD was also
analyzed for methanol and ethanol by EPA Method 8015M direct
injection.
5) Collect groundwater samples from the boring.
6) Analyze the groundwater samples for TPH-G by EPA Method
5030/8015M, TPH-D by EPA Method 3510/8015M, BTEX by EPA
Method 8020, fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260 and methanol a n d
ethanol by EPA Method 8015M direct injection.
7) Backfill the boring with neat cement.
Hanson Property Report - August 1998
-1-
