1 1 <br /> Definition : Hazardous Waste, Cont <br /> 1 A <br /> • Hazardous waste may be a listed discarded chemical, an off-specification product, or a <br /> liquid or solid residue from an operation process, which has one or more of the <br /> characteristics below: <br /> • Ignitable (easily catches fire, flash point 140 F) <br /> • Also includes items that will actively support combustions, such as oxidizers <br /> • Corrosive (easily corrodes materials or human tissue) <br /> • very acidic or alkaline, pH of <_2 or >_12.5 <br /> • Reactive (explosive, produces toxic gases when mixed with water or acid <br /> • Toxic (can leach toxic chemicals as determined by a special laboratory test). <br />
