f
Terra Genesis' s desire to build and manage a permanent site for the
treatment of petroleum contaminated soils came out of -the need for such
a facility by the industry, as well as the general public .
We at Terra Genesis have found leaKage from underground storage tanKs
has become an increasingly serious problems, partieuiary because many
of these tanks and associated product line plumbing have reached the
end of their lifee expectancy arid, in many cases, are IeaKing
profusely . in many of the cases where petroleum contaminated soil had
to be brought to the surface for treatment, limitations to -the
treatment process, such as lot size, on goinj business activities, or
neighboring public populations, made these soils unavailable; for clean
up .
The soil was then hauled off to Class I depositories, or in some cases,
remained in non-complying on site temporary storage areas. Terra
Genesis believes Class I depositories are not the best solution for
most of these soils . F=irst, there is not enough capacity in existing
Class I depositories in California to sore ail so-designated Class I
material . Second, the cost of depositing all petroleum contaminated
soils in Class 1 depositories will be extremely expensive to the waste
owners and tot the general American public who finally pay all costs as
consumers .
Terra Genesis is dedicated to providing an ecological , efficient and
less costly method for cleaning these contaminated soils . It is Terra
Genesis' s goal to provide soil clean up and soil enhancement at a
reasonable cost so that petroleum laden soils can be returned to I h L
field at minimal cost to the economy, environment, or air quality .
Bioaugmentation will be used for treatment and reduction of toxic:
substances round inthese contaminated soils. This treatment process
will reduce the toxic substances, to acceptable levels, making the soil
suitable for spreading on agricultural land or as selected fill . The
appropriate regulatory agencies will supervise the clean up and
disposal activities . The clean up process outlined below may be
altered some what as more experience directs to specific methods.
Sails from sites contaminated by petroleum will be hauled under
federal, state, and local codes to our site in San Joaquin County east
of Austin Rd . and west of Hwy. 99 . (See fig . 1, parcel and vicinity
map) At this site, there is a 8000 ft square concrete slab poured to
faciiitate this soil treatment procedure (see fig. 2, plan and profile
view) . Contaminated soil (hauled material), will be spread on the
concrete slab to a depth of one (1 . 0 ft . ) to two (2 . 0 ft . ) . The
following steps will be performed to start the cleansing process.
