It should be noted that Terra Genesis is only interested in cleanup and <br /> disposal of soils contaminated by petroleum. hydrocarbon and will not <br /> be involved in management of more 'exotic hazardous/toxic materials or <br /> compounds. <br /> As a result of the more intensive regulation, underground tank system <br /> failures and attention by the general public, large quantities of <br /> contaminated soil were dug, transported to Class I depositories, or, <br /> in some cases, remains in non-complying on site temporary storage areas. <br /> Terra Genesis believes that Class I depositories are not the best solution <br /> for most petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soils. First, there is not <br /> enough capacity in existing Class I depositories in California to store <br /> all so-designated Class I material ; secondly, the cost of depositing <br /> all petroleum hydrocarbon wastes in Class I depositories will be extremely <br /> expensive to the waste's owners and to the general American public who <br /> finally pay all costs as consumers. It should be noted that this same <br /> American public has been more reluctant in past years to pay for the <br /> costs associated with doing business in America. It is estimated that <br /> there are 170,000 underground tank systems in California. Further <br /> estimates indicate that 25 percent to 30 percent are in a failing <br /> condition. If each cleanup and repair costs only $25,000 per tank, then <br /> a reasonable statewide cost for cleanup and repair is $1.06 Billion to <br /> $1.275 Billion, which many people believe is not realistic during current <br /> and future economic cycles. <br /> Terra Genesis is dedicated to provide more efficient and less costly <br /> methods for cleaning soil contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbon substances. <br /> It has been recently demonstrated that large volumes of contaminated <br /> soil , 4,300 yd3, can be cleaned up and reused for backfill when proper <br /> treatment and management practices are provided. <br /> It is Terra Genesis' goal to provide soil cleanup and soil enhancement <br /> at a reasonable cost so that petroleum laden soils can be returned to <br /> the field at minimal cost to the economy, the environment, or air quality. <br /> During the first 12 month period, Terra Genesis plans to regenerate 12,000 <br /> yd S3 to 15,000 yd S3 of petroleum hydrocarbon soil and return it to the <br /> surface of the earth where agricultural production can flourish and <br /> complete the cleaning cycle. <br /> Cleanup Process and Technology <br /> The cleanup process outlined below may be altered somewhat as more <br /> experience directs to different specific methods; however, during the <br /> next 24 months, Terra Genesis will proceed as outlined below. Soils <br /> from sites contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons will be hauled under <br /> federal , state, and local codes to a two (2) acre site in San Joaquin <br /> County east of Austin Road and south of Highway No. 99, (see Figure No. <br /> 1, Page 4, Vicinity Map). At this site, there is a 8,000 ft2. concrete <br /> slab poured to facilitate this soil treatment procedure, (see Figure <br /> No. 2, Page 5, Plan and Profile View of Stud Barn Foundation) . <br /> Contaminated soil , (hauled material ) , will be spread on the concrete <br /> slab to a depth of one (1.0 ft) to two (2.0 ft. ).
