NATURAL RESOURCES <br /> -To ensure sufficient water supplies of good quality for all <br /> beneficial uses . <br /> -To enhance and protect from degradation the waterways and <br /> associated resources of San Joaquin County and neighboring <br /> areas . <br /> -To recognize the Delta as one of the County' s most valuable <br /> environmental resources and to support programs for its protection. <br /> -To protect, preserve and enhance wildlife, habitat and natural <br /> vegetation in the County for the preservation of species and <br /> fulfillment of aesthetic, recreational, education, and economic <br /> needs of present and future residents and visitors. <br /> -To ensure that extractive resource deposits will be accessible <br /> when extraction becomes necessary, and to minimize any adverse <br /> impact resulting from extraction. <br /> -To maintain air quality for the protection of public health and <br /> welfare. <br /> NATURAL RESOURCE <br /> 1. A coordinated and integrated approach will be taken towards <br /> solving all water supply and demand problems . <br /> 2 . The waterways of the County will be protected by adhering to <br /> water quality standards, supporti:ig programs to improve water <br /> quality, preventing overuse and misuse, and retaining riparian <br /> vegetation along the waterways . <br /> 3 . Development and other actions that will adversely affect the <br /> waterways and associated resources, particularly the unique <br /> environment .of the Delta, will be prohibited. <br /> 4. Unleveed Delta islands will be protected, and acquisition of <br /> these islands by public agencies will be encouraged. <br /> Yt 5. The County will support and foster sound programs of wildlife <br /> and vegetation management and programs that encourage and teach <br /> respect for the environment. <br /> 37 <br />
