Garden Department (D-28) SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> Step Action <br /> 9 Prior to placing the empty,red waste bucket back in the satellite storage <br /> area,the designated HHM associate must call 3E to get a new label for <br /> the red waste bucket.After calling 3E, the designated HHM associate <br /> must do the following: <br /> • Retrieve the 3E faxed label. <br /> • Place the label in the pouch. <br /> If the pouch is damaged or missing,add a new one. <br /> 10 Place a new liner in the red waste bucket and return it to the satellite <br /> storage area in the Garden Department(you may reuse the red bucket <br /> for fertilizer sweepings if there are no waste residues in the bucket) <br /> Torn or ripped bags Since most of the fertilizer sweepings waste is generated from ripped fertilizer <br /> of fertilizer bags,all Garden Associates are responsible for to following: <br /> ■ Checking the fertilizer product displays for ripped fertilizer bags and <br /> patching ripped bags with the proper bag patches.Generally,patched and/or <br /> overpacked bags may only be sold if all hazards,cautions and warnings on <br /> the product are still readable. If any hazards,warnings,cautions markings or <br /> instructions for use are not readable on the original package,the bag must be <br /> managed as a hazardous waste spill. In this event,call a designated HHM <br /> associate. <br /> ■ If a patch(es)does not cover the surface of the tear,use an overpack bag.If any <br /> hazards,warnings,cautions markings or instruction for use are not readable <br /> on the original package,the bag must be managed as a hazardous waste spill. <br /> In this event,call a designated HHM associate. <br /> The Garden Department Supervisor should reduce the price of the bag using <br /> our approved markdown guidelines.
