Hazardous Waste Program Inspn Report Home Depot Store#1006 Following the inspection, the collection containers observed during the inspection (a plastic garbage can and a 5-gallon bucket)were removed from use at the store. The tubes and lamps contained with the observed can and bucket were taken to the Central Storage Area and placed in properly labeled universal waste boxes designated for store generated universal waste tubes and lamps. A photograph showing one of these labeled boxes is enclosed for your review. 83. Failed to label universal waste to identify type of universal waste. RESPONSE: The HHM Program requires universal waste tubes to be collected in designated cardboard boxes that are properly labeled. These aspects of the HHM Program have been reviewed with affected store associates to ensure proper containerization going forward. Following the inspection, the tubes and lamps observed in the plastic garbage can and 5-gallon bucket were placed in properly labeled universal waste boxes designated for store generated universal waste tubes and lamps. A photograph showing one of these labeled boxes is enclosed for your review. In addition, a photograph showing the labeled cardboard box contained within the orange CFL fixture is enclosed for your review. 84. Stored universal waste on site for more than 1 year or was unable to demonstrate the length of time the universal waste has been accumulated from the date it became a waste or was received. RESPONSE: The RBRC box inside the orange fixture is pre-printed with a universal waste label. The store is required to enter the accumulation start date on the line provided. This requirement has been reviewed with affected store associates to ensure proper execution going forward. A photograph showing the RBRC box with the accumulation start date filled out is enclosed. In addition, a box of rechargeable batteries was offered to UPS for shipment back to UPS on August 24, 2011. The UPS Tracking Number is 1Z7071 1W0623334879. In addition to the information presented above, the Return to Compliance Certification is enclosed.
