12/21/2013
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
Re: Corrective Action Statement for Parex USA—French Camp
Thuy Tran,
#108: All waste water has been tested by Safety Kleen and found to be non hazardous.
Per recommendation we will take samples of our waste water to a California approved
independent lab for analysis to specifically test for corrosiveness, toxicity and flammability.
#301 &404: All rainwater has been pumped off from the open drums into a tote. We
will have the water analyzed to be sure it is not hazardous before being hauled off. We have
placed lids on all open drums and totes to stop the accumulation of water.
#407: All totes or drums will be properly labeled with the word "empty" or its contents.
No empty tote or drum shall be stored longer than one year. All proper documents will be
submitted to EHD after the disposal. Any and all totes and/or drums will be disposed of
properly.
#605 & 701 All hazardous waste shall be marked with proper hazardous waste labeling. We
will contact a licensed hazardous waste disposal company to assess the disposal of the drums.
The four "green metal containers" marked as corrosive have been properly disposed of(see
attachment BOL#0150668770 dated 9/16/2013).
All of the above violations have been addressed immediately. All waste water will be disposed
of by Safety-Kleen by the end of 2013. It will take us approximately 6 months to complete the
disposal process of all empty totes and drums. The expected completion date is end of June
2014.
Thank You,
Steve Horn
Plant Manager—French Camp
