AR TIVE
III. IDENTIFICATION OF CALCULATION METHODS
An Excel spreadsheet was created to identify the major hazardous waste streams
and the total quantity of hazardous waste routinely generated at the facility, The
Excel spreadsheet is referred to as Hazardous Waste Data 2002. It includes the
waste stream description, California Waste Codes (CWCs), federal waste code,
frequency of generation (routine or non-routine), weight of each waste stream in
pounds, total SB 14 qualifying wastes, and the total of all wastes generated at
the facility. This information was obtained from the facility's hazardous waste
manifests. The Hazardous Waste Data spreadsheets from 2002 can be
referenced in Appendix A. Accurate waste generation data is not available prior
to 2002.
The Hazardous Waste Data from 2002 were reviewed and wastes were identified
as being exempt or qualifying as SB 14 hazardous wastes. The exempt wastes
were eliminated from the SB 14 total used in this Hazardous Waste Management
Performance Report. The list of wastes that were exempted under the Hazardous
Waste Source Reduction and Management Review Act of 1989 (SB 14) are as
follows:
• Non-routinely generated wastes
• Motor vehicle fluids and motor vehicle filters
• Lead-acid batteries
• Lighting wastes including ballasts and fluorescent tubes
• Asbestos
• Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
• Demolition waste/renovation waste
Using the Excel spreadsheet created, each individual waste stream is subtotaled.
The weight of all routinely generated waste streams (hazardous waste) on-site is
totaled. These totals are used to identify which of the waste streams exceeded
5% of the SB 14 total hazardous waste routinely generated at Facility Services
for the reporting and baseline years (2002), refer to Section IV, Table 1.
Stockton Unified School District 6 NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INC
Hazardous Waste Performance Report
