. r <br /> t y <br /> e ` <br /> (d) Inspections <br /> The owner or operator shall inspect areas where containers <br /> are stored in accordance with the written inspection schedule <br /> of the approved Operation Plan. <br /> (e) Containment <br /> The owner or operator shall provide a spill containment <br /> system in accordance with the approved operation plan. <br /> Specifically, each hazardous waste storage area shall have a <br /> continuous base that is impervious to the waste stored and <br /> shall be designed and constructed so that any surface water <br /> runoff or spills can be contained, and surface water run-on <br /> can be excluded. The containment system shall have suffi- <br /> cient capacity to contain ten percent of the volume of con- <br /> tainers or the volume of the largest container, whichever is <br /> greater. <br /> (f) Ignitable or Reactive Waste <br /> Containers holding ignitable or reactive waste shall be <br /> situated at least 15 meters (50 feet) from the property line <br /> of the facility. <br /> (g) Incompatible Waste <br /> (1) Incompatible wastes, or incompatible wastes and materials, <br /> shall not be placed in the same container. <br /> (2) Hazardous waste shall not be placed in an unwashed <br /> container that previously held an incompatible waste or <br /> material. <br /> (3) A storage container holding a hazardous waste that is <br /> incompatible with any waste or material stored nearby in <br /> other containers, shall be separated from the other <br /> materials by means of a berm. <br /> (h) Closure <br /> The owner or operator shall close the container storage area <br /> in compliance with the approved closure plan. <br /> 3. Storage in Tanks <br /> (a) Design of Tanks <br /> (1) The owner or operator shall maintain the minimum shell <br /> thickness specified in the approved Operation Plan at <br /> all times to ensure sufficient shell strength. <br /> -20- <br /> J <br />
