Elena K. Manzo [EH]
From: David Olney [DOlney@strongtie.com]
Sent: Friday, December 11, 2015 4:59 PM
To: Elena K. Manzo [EH]
Subject: Email # 5 Simpson Strong -Tie Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report -
Response
Attachments: 5 gallon bucket removed waste identified.JPG; 2nd containment labeling new tooling.JPG
Item # 601
Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without permit or authorization
We have a permit (PT0023045) issued from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department indicating we
are a small generator. This permit was issued 3/19/2015 and expires 12/31/2015. These requirements indicate
that as a small generator we have 180 days to dispose of waste.
Until the date of the inspection 10/23/2015 we were not aware of the larger generator requirements. This is
also the first time that this site has been inspected since it was built in 20041 believe.
We now are aware that as a large generator we have 90 days to dispose of this waste and I assure you this will
be done. We have a continued process in place to reduce waste we hope and have our vendor visit our site on a
quarterly basis.
Item #605
Failed to completely label containers or tanks of hazardous waste (laser dust)
1) This is no longer on the site and has been removed. Further training and inspection processes have been
implemented to ensure the labels are properly filled out.
2) This has been removed and is no longer in use- Photos attached
3) This has since been relabeled and removed from the property. I have attached photos of this area
showing new labels properly filled out
Dave Olney
Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator
Simpson Strong -Tie 1 5151 S.
