ASSESS <br />■ Assess the spill, determine if you can handle it <br />■ If you are not sure, notify a department lead/ supervisor or the safety coordinator for assistance <br />2. Control <br />■ Leaking container- immediately place the leaking container on a second containment pallet <br />■ Contact a department lead/ supervisor or the safety coordinator for assistance <br />■ Properly label the second containment container with a "new" hazardous waste label identifying <br />the product that is leaking. For example "waste oil". Even if it is fresh oil it is now considered <br />"waste" <br />■ Use wood dowels or plugs to stop the leak <br />3.
