KLEINFELDER
7 HUMAN HEALTH AND ECOLOGICAL SCREENING EVALUATION
A human health screening evaluation will be conducted to estimate the potential chronic
health hazard from potential contamination at the site. It is unlikely that potential
exposures to ecological receptors will need to be evaluated, because the site is located
in an existing urban setting including residential areas. If exposure pathways to
ecological receptors are identified, a screening ecological assessment will be
conducted in accordance with the PEA Guidance Manual and consultation with the
DTSC.
The human health screening evaluation will assess the following four criteria in
accordance with the PEA Guidance Manual:
• Construction of a conceptual model for the property identifying receptor
groups, exposure media, and exposure pathways;
• Identification of chemicals of potential concern (COPC) and their physical
constants and concentrations, including metals above background
concentrations, to evaluate industrial exposure;
• Description of human toxicity information of the specific COPC, and
• A risk characterization summary of the exposure assessment and toxicity
information for each chemical and exposure pathway.
A conceptual site model has been developed for the site and is included as Figure 1
in Appendix E.
57252.T02/ST05R999/DH:ly Page 24 of 29
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
