Sect. 2.4.3, pg. 13, paragraph 1: "At the conclusion of excavation,
a minimum of two soil samples will be taken from the excavation side walls and
bottom,. . ."
We recommend that soil samples be obtained from all 4 side walls of the
excavation including sampling the bottom of the excavation; at least 5 samples
depending upon the finished dimensions of the tank excavation.
2. Sect. 2.4.7, pg 14, Contaminated Soils:
We recommend the selection of the appropriate landfill be made prior to the
removal /overexcavat ion and sampling activities. The early selection of the soil
repository will enable sampling activities and related laboratory analyses to
coordinate efficiently. Many landfills require hazardous waste criteria testing
in addition to the standard petroleum hydrocarbon analyses.
Once the landfill has been selected, please provide us with the name, address,
city and contact person for the landfill.
If you have any question, please contact Diane Hinson, Supervising R.E.H.S. at
(209) 468-3452.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
ea(lth fic
Laurie .
