We have awarded a <br />contract to remove an underground waste oil tank behind building 816-C on <br />Rough and Ready Island. Since this site has been identified as a CERCLA <br />site, we will not be obtaining a permit for this action per section 121 of <br />the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. However, the tank <br />removal will be done in accordance with the requirements as set forth by the <br />state of California and San Joaquin County. The tank removal should start 7 <br />December 1989 with completion by 13 December 1989. <br />Our purpose in taking this action is to remove the source of contamination in <br />a timely manner to stop further leakage.
