REPRODUCED AT GOVERNMENT EXPENSE, <br />0 <br />1.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: In the ACI publications referred to herein, the <br />advisory provisions shall be considered to be mandatory, as though the word <br />"shall" has been substituted for "should" wherever it appears: reference to <br />the "Building Official," the "Structural Engineer," and the <br />"Architect/Engineer" shall be interpreted to mean the Contracting Officer. <br />1.3 SUBMITTALS: None required. <br />1.4 DELIVERY: Do not deliver concrete until ready for concrete placement. <br />1.5 STORAGE: Store concrete aggregates to prevent contamination or <br />segregation. Store reinforcement of different sizes and shapes in separate <br />piles or racks raised above the ground to avoid excessive rusting. Protect <br />from contaminants such as grease, oil, and dirt. Provide for accurate <br />identification after bundles are broken and tags removed. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 CONCRETE: <br />2.1.1 Concrete Mix Design: ACI 301, except as modified herein. Concrete <br />shall have a 28 -day compressive strength of 3000 Psi. Slump shall be between <br />2 and 4 inches in accordance with ASTM C 143. The slump may be increased to <br />5 inches for concrete utilizing either fly ash, pozzolan, or ground slag for <br />20 percent (minimum) of the total cementitious material. Provide ASTM C 33 <br />aggregate Size No. 67 and 4 to 6 percent air entrainment for concrete exposed <br />to freeze -thaw conditions. Accomplish air -entrainment using an air - <br />entraining admixture. <br />2.1.2 Ready -Mixed Concrete: ASTM C 94, except as modified herein. Ready - <br />mixed concrete is defined in this specification as concrete produced <br />regularly by a commercial establishment and delivered to the purchaser in the <br />plastic state. <br />2.2 MATERIALS: <br />2.2.1 Cement: ASTM C 150, Type I or ASTM C 595, Type IPMS blended <br />cement, except as modified herein. The blended cement shall consist of a <br />mixture of ASTM C 150 cement and one of the following materials: ASTM C 618 <br />pozzolan or fly ash, or ASTM C 989 ground iron blast furnace slag. The <br />pozzolan/fly ash content shall not exceed 25 percent by weight of the total <br />cementitious material. For exposed concrete, use one manufacturer for each <br />type of cement, ground slag, fly ash, and pozzolan. <br />2.2.1.1 Fly Ash and Pozzolan: ASTM C 618, Type N, F, or C, except that the <br />maximum allowable loss on ignition shall be 6 percent for Type N and F. Add <br />with cement. <br />2.2.1.2 Ground Iron Blast -Furnace Slag: ASTM C 989, Grade 100 or 120. <br />2.2.2 Water: Water shall be potable. <br />
