R�PPODUCED AT GOVERNMENT EXPENSE, <br />410 , 10 <br />3.5-3.1 Application: Unless the manufacturer recommends otherwise, apply <br />compound immediately after the surface loses its water sheen and has a dull <br />appearance, and before joints are sawed. Mechanically agitate curing <br />compound thoroughly during use. Use approved power -spraying equipment to <br />uniformly apply two coats of compound in a continuous operation. The total <br />coverage for the two coats shall be 200 square feet maximum per gallon of <br />undiluted compound, unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer's <br />written instructions. The compound shall form a uniform, continuous, <br />coherent film that will not check, crack, or peel. Immediately apply an <br />additional coat of compound to areas where the.film is defective. Respray <br />concrete surfaces subjected to rainfall within 3 hours after the curing <br />compound application. <br />3.5-3.2 Protection of Treated Surfaces: Prohibit foot and vehicular traffic <br />and other sources of abrasion for not less than 72 hours after compound <br />application. Maintain continuity of the coating for the entire curIng period <br />and immediately repair any damage. <br />3.5.4 Liquid Chemical Sealer -Hardener Curing: Provide for interior floors <br />that do not receive a floor covering, or in lieu of liquid membrane -forming <br />compound curing for other surfaces. Apply sealer -hardener in accordance with <br />manufacturer's recommendations. Seal or cover joints and openings in which <br />joint sealant is to be applied, as required by the joint sealant <br />manufacturer. <br />3.5.5 Curing Periods: Allow 7 days. <br />3.6.1 Sampling: ASTM C 172. Collect samples of fresh concrete to perform <br />tests specified. <br />3.6.2 Testing: <br />3.6.2.1 Slump Tests: ASTM C 143. Take samples during concrete placement. <br />The maximum slump may be increased as specified with the addition of an <br />approved admixture provided that the water -cement ratio is not exceeded. <br />Perform tests at commencement of concrete placement and for each batch <br />(minimum) or every 10 cubic yards (maximum) of concrete. <br />3.6.2.2 Air Content: ASTM C 173 or ASTM C 231. Test air -entrained concrete <br />for air content at the same frequency as specified for slump tests. <br />***END OF SECTION*** <br />
