h
CASE NARRATIVE
This Case Narrative applies to the data from the analysis of
EDB by EPA Method 8010 for CHEMWEST Ticket number 9501.
All Blanks contained no analytes at or above the reporting
limit for each analyte.
The linear regression calculation for the initial calibration
met required criteria.
Continuing calibration standards were verified and met
acceptance criteria.
Matrix interfering compounds suppressed recoveries of the high
boiling surrogate orthochlorotoluene in both samples. This is
further supported by the excellent blank spike surrogate
recovery, and the low matrix spike recovery results. Matrix
spike results also reveal that the matrix interferent is
selective in nature, apparently suppressing only chlorobenzene,
the dichlorobenzenes, and the surrogate orthochlorotoluene.
Matrix spike recoveries for EDB are 130% and 123%.
Therefore these findings support the non detect findings for
EDB in both samples at the normal low reporting limit of 1.0
ug/L, in spite of the suppressed surrogate findings.
i
!% /_1 z
Kirk Pocan Date
GC Laboratory Manager
COMPUCHEM WESTERN DIVISION
