C. Nottingham and verified that this can be done
- it can. The attached drawing shows how this is to be aCComplished.
Basically, another compartment is added to the end of the separator. This
would be Nottingham's Model 8041 sand trap unit. This unit has two
compartments, one will act as the sample box and the other will act as the
waste oil sump. This would eliminate the waste oil sump, sample box, and (2)
2" double wail under ground gravity oil draw-off pipes shown on details
2-MI -Ml and 3M1 -hit of the drawings. The 2" waste oil pump suction line will
draw from the new waste oil sump compartment the same as before. Since this
line is above ground and now routes over to the front end of the separator,
we recommend extending the 12" tall containment curb around it and adding a
couple of bollards to protect the curb, refer to drawing A2. Tf this IS
unacceptable in that it will block thru-traffic behind the building, we would
recommend running the 2" pump suction line underground (double wall pipe)
over to the waste oil sump, keeping the line as Shallow as possible and
connecting into the side of the sump above the oil level in the sump, then
elbowing down to the foot valve in the bottom of the sump.
Please note that the sample box and waste oil Sump Covers need to be traffic
duty (H-20) if not located Inside the containment Curb. On the original
drawings, the sample box cover was H-20 but not the oil sump cover becausa it
was inside the containment curb.
7300 Folsom Boulevard Rptert J.Alessi.
