for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D) using EPA Method 8015M, for
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) using EPA Method 8260, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) using EPA Method 8020.
• Installation of Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) — The Scope of Work to be
performed by Geofon also involves installation of one existing 2,000 -gallon AST on a
new reinforced concrete slab. Installation of AST includes, retrofitting the existing
AST to be compliant with local AST regulations, installation of safety valves,
installation and connecting new tank level and leak detection controls and new
underground electric and control wiring and conduit from the generator room to the
AST.
• Site Restoration — Geofon will remove all construction debris, materials and will
demobilize all equipment as soon as possible after site work has been completed. The
site will be restored to pre -construction conditions including proper backfilling,
compaction, grading, and any activities required to fully restore the site.
The USTs to be removed are 12,000 -gallon in capacity and the project site is located at
the northwest corner of Building 330, DDJC-Sharpe, Lathrop, California. The USTs rest on a 12 -
inch thick concrete tank hold-down slab. The USTs are made of fiberglass and were used to
store diesel fuel. The USTs system was used to supply diesel fuel to the generators.
4.1 PHYSICAL HAZARDS
Physical hazards are inherently present during field operations. Physical hazards present
at the project site include the mechanical hazards associated with the operation of vehicles and
equipment, slip -trip -fall hazards associated with operations conducted in a field environment,
musculo -skeletal injury hazards resulting from heavy work activities, hazards due to weather
3
