1] <br />U <br />11 <br />Two _12,000 -gallon USTs were removed from an excavation measuring 32 feet wide, 45 <br />feet long, and 12 feet deep. During removal, it was noted that both of the USTs observed were in <br />good condition with no holes, cracks or significant corrosion. Both tanks were anchored to a 2 - <br />foot thick concrete slab with tie down straps. The concrete slab was left in place. All of the <br />piping leading to and from the tanks were double -walled and in excellent condition. No <br />significant petroleum soil staining or odors were observed during removal of the tanks and <br />piping. Groundwater was not encountered during the excavation activities. The pea -gravel and <br />sandy soils that were excavated were reused as backfill for the tank excavation. Class II base <br />aggregate was imported to complete the backfill of the excavation. <br />6 <br />
