Metals: <br />Notes: To avoid false positive detection ofbcnzene, benzene -free solvents are to be used. Fused capillary columns are preferred to packed columns; a <br />packed column maybe used as a "first cut" with "dirty" samples or once the hydrocarbons have been characterized and proper QA/QC i5 followed. For <br />drinking water sources, EPA recommends that the 500 series for volatile organic should be used in preference to the 600 series because the detection <br />limits arc lower and the QA/QC is better. Samples exhibiting any level of heavy metal contamination may require furtha analysis.
