eti <br /> .a <br /> UST LUFT LETTER <br /> Page 2 <br /> Before receiving a PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive <br /> the SWRCB Clean up Fund Letter of Commitment, you must make application to the <br /> State of California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum <br /> Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package for the <br /> Fund has been provided. <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to: <br /> 1. Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br /> 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of petroleum from USTs; and <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> Claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br /> Applications must be submitted to the SWRCB Clean Up Fund to undergo <br /> eligibility ranking for funding in the 1995-96 state fiscal budget year. All <br /> subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed under a <br /> workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br /> The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the removal, repair, retrofit, <br /> or installation of USTs. = Should you wish to obtain a low interest loan for <br /> the upgrade of your tank system, please contact the State of California Trade <br /> and Commerce Agency, UST Loan Program, regarding their loan requirements, at <br /> (916) 445-6733. <br /> If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact ®� ; <br /> R.E.H.S. at (209) <br /> Ernest M.
