THE XLP...EXTEP*ED PERFORMANCESIFE IN
MECHANICAL LEAK DETECTION
As early as 1959, Red Jacket developed and marketed
a mechanical leak detector as a solution to the problem of
leakage in the pressurized piping between the petroleum
product storage tanks and the dispensers.
Evolution of the Red Jacket mechanical leak detector
has been ongoing for the last 30 years in response to
industry demands with the original leak detector in 1959,
followed by the two-second diaphragm leak detector in
1976 and the piston leak detector in 1986.
The evolution continues. Our research and experience
has enabled us to further enhance the reliability of the
mechanical leak detector with the introduction of the Ex-
tended Life series.
The piston version, the XLP, is constructed in design and
materials to appreciably extend the time that it maintains •
the required leak detecting capability.
The materials used in the XLP are compatible with 100%
gasoline, 100% methanol, 100% ethanol or any combina-
tion of these, 100% diesel and MTBE content up to 15%.
The XLP maintains the capability of compensating for
product (thermal) contraction and is easily installed in older
or competitive model pumps with the use of the Red Jacket
leak detector housing. A tamper -proof feature is provided
to prevent unauthorized alteration or removal.
Introducing the XLP...
RED JACKET CONTINUES ADVANCING MECHANICAL LINE
LEAK DETECTION TECHNOLOGY
DESIGNED TO HANDLE
100% GASOLINE
100% METHANOL
100% ETHANOL
ANY COMBINATION OF ABOVE
100% DIESEL
UP TO 15% MTBE
• Compensates for product contraction.
• Restricted flow rate of approximately 3 GPM down-
stream of the leak detector provides an easily distin-
guishable signal that complies with EPA requirements.
• Performs a complete line test in approximately two
seconds.
• Easily installed in current leak detector opening on
Red Jacket submersible pump.
• Can be installed with competitive model submersible
pumps with the use of the Red Jacket leak detector
housing.
• Can be installed in any position.
• Not sensitive to vibration.
• Tamper proof feature (accomodates wire seal) prevents
unauthorized alteration or removal.
• Rugged cast iron construction.
• UL Listed with approved housing.
• EPA 3rd party certified.
• Designed for use with 1/3, 3/4 and 1-1/2 horsepower
pumps with flows up to 70 GPM.
0
