Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, Ca. 95201
Attn: Laurie Cotulla
Re: Vadose Zone Monitoring Systems at Quik Stop Markets
Dear Ms. Cottula:
Quik Stop Markets, Inc. understands that the U.S.I. Vapor Monitoring System
is a new technology with certain limitations to its effectiveness at
sensing petroleum hydorcarbon vapors. This system is limited to detect-
ing hydrocarbon vapors in sand or pea gravel backfill materials only. As
such Quik Stop realizes that if this system proves to be inadequate after
installation, we would be required to remove it and replace with a more
capable system or use a different monitoring alternative or remove the
tanks.
The U.S.I. system is being installed as part of Monitoring Alternative #6
of the State Underground Storage Tank Guidelines. Quik Stop Markets, Inc.
will meet all other requirements of Alternative #6, including precision
tank testing, inventory reconciliation and the installation of in-line
leak detectors.
Sincerely,
QUIK STOP MARKETS, INC.
1
By:
ac ri Didector of Gas—o-1—ine
JG/ j rm
