0 onodc I
-sure ec
Nl
tH r
F fuel invento y
the name implies. A float in the tank
rides up and down the probe and
is electronically connected to a
console. The float level is translated
into a volume measurement using
a conversion factor. The obvious
drawback to this monitoring system is
that a float can stick andprovide
erroneous readings. Tanks that are
not level or that shift may also cause
errors. Finally, float systems are gener-
ally harder to install, less reliable and
require difficult and costly calibration.
Capacitive systems offer the advantage
of no mechanical parts. A current that
runs up and down the probe is con-
stantly measuring the height of the
product in the tank. Although capaci-
tive technology is fairly accurate and
reliable, there are a number of
disadvantages. On-site tank informa-
tion must be provided for factory cali-
bration before the unit is even shipped.
This extensive calibration makes instal-
lation more difficult and expensive. In
addition, capacitive systems are unable
to compensate for various types and
concentrations of fuel additives.
Ultrasonic systems also have no me-
chanical parts. Sound waves are trans-
mitted through the product and the
waves are measured to determine the
height of the product in the tank. A
series of pulses are measured and av-
eraged for increased accuracy. Unlike
many other systems, water volume can
be detected and accurately measured
with ultrasonics. And, because ultra-
"','
sonic systems are field programmable,
different tank dimensions and uneven
tanks will not decrease the accuracy of
the readings.
This highly accurate ultrasonic technol-
op is utilized in the GTM system from
Tedel. Extensive research was con-
ducted with the support of our parent
company, The Southland Corporation.
This research documented the clear
technological superiority of the ultra-
sonic method. This same technology
has been designed into the GTM sys-
tem to provide the most accurate and
best value available today.
Communications compatible.
The GTM system from Tidel
operates as a stand alone
unit or can interface
with off-site
main frame or =
personal com-
puters through
the RS -232
communications
port to form an inte-
grated telecommuni-
cations network.
This computer networking feature al-
lows inventory and security data to be
monitored through your regional of-
fice. In addition, an RS -422 commu-
nication port offers you interface ca-
pabilities with a variety of electronic
components such as POS equipment
and fuel consoles.
Installation breeze.
Without shutting down your gasoline
operation, Tidel's factory certified
technicians can easily install the GTM
system in as little as four hours for a
standard three tank system. Probes
are inserted into existing tanks
Through a standard 4" riser. The
1 compact console gives you the
flexibility to design your system
and program it to meet your
specific requirements.
Service ease.
Professional service technicians are
available for formal on-site training.
These factory certified technicians are
on-line to provide nationwide service
year round.
Every service technician is equipped to
install and service the GTM system.
And, because the GTM system from
Tidel features all electronic compo-
nents, service is usually quick and easy.
The end of the stick.
The GTM system from Tidel offers
more features. More accuracy.
More value. Take a closer look and
you'll agree the time has come to put
an end to the stick. Call Tidel Systems
today to find out how you can put the
GTM electronic monitoring system
to work for you.
