11 <br />kERCROUND STORAGE TANK <br />ction 13215 — Page 13 <br />2. Materials: Backfill up to 6" min above top of pipe with sand or fine <br />earth, 1/2" max size particles; for wrapped or coated pipe or plastic <br />pipe use sand only. <br />Backfill tanks up to 1 ft above tanks with sand or other backfill mate— <br />rials as approved by the State. <br />Continue backfill up to finished grade with excavated material or other <br />approved materials, free from rocks or lumps greater than 4", except: <br />a. Backfill top 12" under roads, -valks or paving with sand, gravel or <br />crushed rock, 1/2" max size. <br />b. Backfill top 6" for planted areas with topsoil. <br />c. Remove surplus material remaining after backfilling from State property <br />or place as directed. <br />3. Shoring: Remove shoring as backfill is placed, except shoring driven <br />below invert of pipe shall be cut off at top of pipe. <br />4. Paved Surfaces: Make neat surface cuts. Use rotary saw for cutting <br />concrete. <br />Replace roads, walks, paving or similar surfaces to match existing work. <br />5. Subsidence: Add materials of like kind to bring to finish grade any <br />areas showing subsidence during guarantee period, by adding compacted <br />backfill or additional pavement. <br />3.06 CONCRETE WORK <br />A. General: Provide all concrete work required for mechanical services and <br />equipment. <br />B. Materials : <br />1. Portland Cement: ASTM C150, Type II low alkali, or Type III high early <br />strength. <br />2. Aggregate: ASTM C33, and as follows: <br />a. Coarse aggregate: Uniformly graded between max size (not over 1-1/2" <br />and not less than 3/4") and min size (A), consisting of clean, hard, <br />fine grained, sound crushed rock or washed gravel. <br />C. Forms: For exposed work, 5/8" thick APA "Plyform". Reuse of form lumber <br />will be permitted if approved. <br />Tie forms securely together. Do not use twisted wire form ties. Keep forms <br />wet to prevent joints from opening up before concrete is placed. Forms <br />subject to approval. Replace improper construction as directed. Do not use <br />wood inside forms. <br />When directed, carefully remove all forms. Cut nails and tie wires below <br />face of concrete and fill all holes.
