At the time of our arrival, the contractor had completed removing all clay soils beneath the future
concrete slab to the satisfaction of the United States Army representative. Backfill material was placed in 6"-8"
loose lifts and thoroughly compacted with a vibratory smooth drum roller prior to placement of additional fill soils.
Nuclear density compaction tests were performed at randomly selected locations to verify that compaction
requirements were being met. Relative compaction test results along with corresponding elevations are indicated
above. For test locations, please refer to the attached location map. Where test results indicated significantly less
than the 95% relative compaction requirement, additional compactive efforts were applied until satisfactory
compaction was achieved. Based on the test results compiled on this project and witnessing the earthwork
operations, it is our judgement that the backfill material placed in the clay removal area beneath the proposed
concrete drive slab was properly moisture conditioned and compacted to the requirements of the project plans and
specifications and the applicable chapters of the 1994 UBC. Departed jobsite at 1330 hrs.
3080 Thorntree Drive, Ste. 35 • Chico, CA 95973 • Telephone: (530) 891-6625 - Facsimile: (530) 891.4243
