CLEANUP/MITIGATION <br />Explain the cleanup pians for small or large releases of hazardous materials on your facility. <br />Describe the methods used to dispose of materials collected during cleanup. Give name of <br />private Industrial Cleaning Company. <br />Gasoline Spills (Fuel is Flowing) <br />❑ Each employee shall follow all safety rules and spill procedure steps, but only if they <br />can safely do so. <br />❑ Manager or key person in charge just turn the EMERGENCY SHUT OFF SWITCH <br />OFF. (If your location does not have one, use the ALL PUMP STOP BUTTON on <br />the gasoline console), then go to the circuit breaker switches and turn off power to <br />the submerged turbine pumps and dispensers. The submerged turbine pump circuit <br />breakers are painted "Red" and labeled by circuit number on the inside of the breaker <br />panel door. <br />❑ Confirm the source of the spill has been stopped. <br />❑ .Alert everyone on the property that there has been a spill and make sure they leave <br />the spill area immediately. <br />❑ Be sure there are no engines running, no cigarettes lit—nothing that can cause fire or <br />explosion. <br />0 If it is safe, try not to let the spill run off the driveway into the street, into the ditch, <br />or down a drain. Put absorbent materials.. absorbent pads and cat litter around the <br />spill. Do not allow your clothes or skin to come in contact with the spill. <br />0 Cordon off the spill area using orange cones to make the spill area safe for the <br />cleanup to begin. <br />❑ Once the liquid is soaked up, put the absorbents in a plastic bag and put the bag in a <br />bucket or drum with a lid that can be sealed tightly. Put a warning sign <br />"HAZARDOUS WASTE" on the bucket. <br />C} Store the bucket or drum away from customers in a safe place. Do not try to <br />dispose of the absorbents until you contact Nella Oil Company's Maintenance <br />Department or your area manager, <br />❑ If you are not able to safely contain the spill, call the fire department in your area. <br />I the manager or key person in charge must evacuate the workplace, the evacuation <br />procedure must be followed. <br />Page I of 2 <br />.I <br />
