PROBE RISER PIPE INSTALLATION. <br />(See Figure 4, "Capacitance Probe Installation Require- <br />ments" and Figure 5, "Magnetostrictive Probe Installation <br />Requirements"). <br />IMPORTANT: For maximum height -to -volume accuracy, <br />select the threaded hole closest to the middle of the <br />tank and install a 4 -inch riser pipe (ANSI pipe, sch. 40). <br />Standard procedures for installing a fill pipe can be used. <br />Instructions are based on a 4 -inch riser pipe, however, the <br />capacitance probes will also fit a 3 -inch riser. <br />1. If the tank is buried, excavate the portion of the tank that <br />contains the riser hole. <br />2. Remove the bung from the hole and install the riser pipe. <br />Figure 4. Capacitance Probe Installation Requirements. <br />•' NOTE: The top of the riser pipe must be threaded to <br />accept a 4 x 8 NPT cap adaptor ring. <br />In addition, make sure there will be enough clearance <br />between the top of the installed riser cap and manhole <br />cover to allow room for the two -wire probe cable to <br />protrude from the cap. <br />3. Install a standard adaptor ring and riser cap on the riser <br />pipe. <br />NOTE: The cap should be a locking cap, "Evertite" or <br />I10 equivalent, with a standard ring adaptor. The cap must <br />be drilled and tapped to receive the furnished cable <br />grip (see Section 5.13 and Section 6.C). <br />Kits consisting of a 4 -inch cap, adaptor ring and plug for <br />the cap are available from Gilbarco.
