Both the primary and seccna=+Ping systems shall
be installed and integrity tes:e cordance with the
manufacturer's published ins --a!=- c -i instructions.
Long Form
Design: The Double -Wall Pip;n: Sys;em shall consist of
a UUULC listed flexible inner P- rrary pipe contained
within a ULC listed flexible outer containment pipe, each
making connection within a sees of surface access
containment chambers. All piai^_ runs shall be continu-
ous, whereby there shall be no `stings or piping con-
nections, for either the primal' or secondary contain-
ment pipe which are not visile or accessible from
aboveground. The secondary containment piping shall
be sized to allow complete removal of the primary piping
without excavation. The secondary containment system
shall provide watertight containment of the tank's piping
and its associated fittings, and the shear valve assembly
located below each aboveground fuel dispenser unit.
Product Compatibility. All the components of the
Double -Wall Piping System shall be compatible with the
products to be stored.
Corrosion Resistance: All components of the Double -
Wall Piping System shall be made of non -corrosive
materials, or if metallic, such as the fittings and cou-
plings, isolated from corrosion causing agents.
Liquid -tight Sump/Risers
Double-WallUnderg- Z`%-896
Tanks
Structural integrity: The outer secondary ment system shall be of such design and ms- '0
to
have sufficient strength to withstand the n--s\.rnum
underground burial loads and tested in ac,=- =n'ce
with AASHTC M294. The flexible inner pnn` `' P'P-
ing system shall be capable of withstand:-', quid
pressure five times greater than the design&,: erat-
ing pressures.
Integrity Testing: The outer secondary cone_, n-^ent
systems shall undergo an air pressure hold gest i3 to
5 psi) after installation and before the fins[
The flexible inner primary piping system shsli =-e sub-
ject to 60 psi air pressure hold test prior to `final tack -
fill.
Monitoring Capability. The design of the sz.•Un nary
containment system shall permit any leak in t^e pri-
mary piping system to be detected by a leak resection
system.
Access Chambers: Surface access containment
chambers shall be located at the tank containing the
tank's submersible pump and under each above-
ground fuel dispenser. These access charnilers shall
meet the following requirements:
1. Provide product -tight tank or island connection.
2. Provide product -tight pipe and conduit exits.
3. Provide sufficient strength to keep out
surrounding backfill material.
4. Made of non -corrosive, product compatible and
dielectric materials.
