Yosemite Avenue, Manteca
Dear Mr. Sasson:
On behalf of Rinehart Oil, Inc., Ramage Environmental is pleased to submit to the San
Joaquin County PHS/EHD the enclosed soil and soil stockpile sample results. Attachments
include a scaled site plan indicating sample locations, tables summarizing soil and soil
stockpile sample results, and the laboratory reports.
On January 28, 1999, under your observation, Ramage Environmental collected six soil
samples from beneath the former underground storage tanks (UST) and six soil samples from
beneath the former dispensers and canopy support structures. Based on the dimensions of the
former UST excavation (less the UST volumes) and on measurements of the soil pile
generated during the removal of the USTs, Ramage Environmental and PHS/EHD estimated
the volume of the soil stockpile from the UST excavation at 500 cubic yards. To characterize
the soil stockpile, Ramage Environmental collected 20 soil samples from the stockpile for
two -in -one lab composite and analysis.
All of the soil samples were collected in brass sample tubes, sealed with Teflon° paper and
plastic end caps, labeled, and transported in an iced cooler under chain -of -custody
documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC, a state of California certified hazardous waste testing
laboratory (Certification #2236). Kiff analyzed each of the soil samples and soil sample
composites for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-Gasoline, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), di -isopropyl ether
(RIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary
butanol (TBA) by EPA Method 8260B and for total lead by EPA Method 6010.
