0 0
6ETTLER-RYAN INC.
September 23, 1998
Mr. David J. Camille
Tosco Marketing Company
2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400
San Ramon, California 94583
Subject: Soil Disposal, Tosco 76 Branded Facility No. 11194, 2375 Tracy Boulevard,
Tracy, California
Mr. Camille:
Gettler-Ryan Inc. (GR) has prepared this letter to document the sampling and disposal of soil
generated during previous subsurface investigation work at the subject site. The soil sampling and
chemical analyses were conducted to comply with the local regulatory agency requirements for
proper disposal of the potentially hydrocarbon -impacted soil.
On May 25, 1998, GR collected a composite soil sample from three drums of soil at the site.
Individual grab samples taken from depths of approximately 1 to 2 feet into two of the drums.
The individual samples were collected in two-inch diameter, clean brass tubes that were sealed
with Teflon -lined plastic caps and placed in an ice chest with blue ice for preservation. The
samples were accompanied by properly executed Chain of Custody documentation for transport
to the laboratory for analysis. The samples were submitted to Sequoia Analytical Laboratory in
Redwood City, California for compositing and analysis as sample Comp DC.
Comp DC was analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) Method 5030/modified 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020, and total lead by EPA method 6010. The results of the
soil analyses are summarized in Table 1. Copies of the laboratory analytical report and the Chain
of Custody documentation are attached to this report.
The three drums of soil were profiled for disposal at Forward Incorporated's (Forward) Manteca,
California Landfill, an approved Class II/III disposal facility. Based on the concentrations of the
constituents analyzed in Comp DC, Forward issued approval number 715721 on June 19, 1998,
for disposal of the three drums. On June 23, 1998, Denbeste Transportation, Inc. removed the
drums and transported them to Forward.
140197.02
6747 Sierra Court, Suite J Dublin, California 94568 • ( 9 2 5 ) 551 -7555
