■ Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
November 17, 1993
Mr. Doug Wilson
San Joaquin County Public Health
Environmental Health Division
Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Annual Inventory Reconciliation Report, July 1992 -June 1993
Dear Mr. Wilson:
This is the annual report of underground tank inventory reconciliation required by Title 23
California Code of Regulations,Division 3,Chapter 16 Underground Tank Regulations,
Section 2646(j). The two underground tanks at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
(LLNL) Site 300 monitored for leak tightness according to inventory reconciliation
requirements are the gasoline tanks at Building 879 (879-G1U1 and 879-G2U1). Inventory
reconciliation has shown that these two tanks have been leak tight for the reporting
period. The inventory reconciliation data for these tanks is summarized in Attachment A.
The evaluation of inventory reconciliation procedures resulted in a plan of corrective
action. In telephone discussions with Bill Snavely on August 23 and September 22, 1993,
Rick Henry of my staff discussed the submittal of this report at the time of the
completion of the following corrective actions:
1. Train the individuals who are responsible for the inventory reconciliation activities of
manual gauging, performing calculations, and reporting to management and
responsible Environmental Protection Department persons. (Completed September 8,
1993).
2. Modify the manual gauging log to include daily recording of the initials of the
operator performing the measurement and calculations, and require the daily
calculation of month-to-date variation. (Completed August 25, 1993).
3. Modify the written inventory reconciliation procedure according to present
agreements. Distribute copies of the procedure at the time of training. (Completed in
draft form September 8, 1993. The final procedure is presently undergoing an internal
review prior to formal distribution.)
TAGG 93-183
An Equal OpportunityEmployer-Universityof California-P.O.Box 808 Livermore,California 94550-Telephone(415)422-1100-Twx 910-386-8339 UCLLL LVMR
