. — Clayton
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTANTS
HOFMM EZ CHECK 1
CHECK LIST
Tester: +-.z; S`v s Supervisor: yti Date: t Eger. /5'j t
l( Secure tank area. Have vehicles that are parked within 10 feet moved. If they are
going to be moved during the test. Block access so that no travel within 10 feet of the
tank is allowed (except for emergencies) (Sec. 8 page 1).
Prepare tank for testing. Remove tank foot valve and insure tank is isolated from
pumping system. Remove any drop tubes if used in tank (Sec. 8 page 1).
G Stick tank to determine tank bottom to grade, tank top to grade, length of fill pipe, and
check for water in tank bottom. Tank should be filled to within 3" of top of fill pipe
by client, determine when tank was filled to see if sufficient time has elapsed (min. 6
hours) for product stabilization. Fill out tank testing form using measurements
observed.
Gd Collect sample of product, measure sample specific gravity and temperatures, set aside
200 milliliters for calibration.
Insert temperature probe to correct depth.
Bring product to top of fill pipe using table in section 14 page 4 of the Homer
instruction manual. Check for gross 1 (assumed if level win not stabilize after
adding the amount of product listed in table (Sec. 14 page 4).
LEf If there are no gross leaks, calculate proper product height (height to produce a
minimum of 2.4 psi, maximum of 5 psi at tank bottom) and connect standpipe
assembly to fill pipe.
E2( Set up equipment. Estimate the amount of product required to reach test level and fill
/ upper reservoir on stand pipe again, check for gross leaks (Sec. 9 page 1).
2 If no gross leaks, maintain level in standpipe upper reservoir.
Eli Bleed all vapor areas such as tank lines or manways, if they are present on the tank.
When tank level is stable in the upper reservoir of the constant pressure stand pipe
(CPS), lower pressure .4 PSI and maintain constant pressure on tank. Start 3 hour
minimum stabilization time.
C Calculate exact total tank capacity through including product, return and vent lines
(Sec. 4 page 3). Calculate coefficient of expansion (COE).
S Assemble and set up tank testing equipment. Connect temperature probe to digital
indicator, assemble chart recorder and calibrate. Set up bubbler to correct chamber in
the (CPS) (Sec. 9 page 1).
IL-NW O tenglaa{velezcnt.G,n
