Above ground portion of pipe to be removed: This pipe must be removed and rinsed by a contractor with a
certification in hazardous substances removal and be ICC UST certified.
2. The piping sump penetrations can be plugged with materials compatible with diesel fuel. Usually this is done
with fuel compatible boots and a fiberglass or metal pipe plug. Installing a fiberglass patch on the sump is not
required. In the future, if excavation of the sump is done for other reasons then we will require that the sump
penetrations be removed and the sump be repaired with a fiberglass patch.
3. The sump was manufactured by Owens/Corning which is no longer in business.
4. A separate boring permit is required from by dept in addition to the UST Retrofit permit.
Please forward this to Bob Barty of AGE since I don't have his contact info.
Thank you,
Garrett Backus, Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Ave, Stockton, CA 95205-6232
email: gbackus(aD-sjcehd.com
telephone: (209)468-2986
fax: (209)468-3433
website: http://www.sagov.org/ehd/Programs/Unitill/unitiii.htm
1
